Beatstream

February 2012 – Ongoing

Beatstream is an open-source, web-based music server, much like Ampache or Subsonic. With Beatstream, you can stream music from any machine running Ruby to anywhere with a browser. I started building Beatstream because my Spotify subscription ran out and I wanted to listen to good music at work.

Technology stack: Ruby on Rails, SQLite, SlickGrid, jQuery UI, SoundManager 2, fancyBox

Uutta Musaa

2010

Uutta Musaa (“New Music”) is a idea/concept prototype. I had an idea for a simple music sharing service so me and my friends would post Spotify links to this site for others to discover new music. The thing failed spectacularly :) Despite the failure, I used the Spotify API and utilised an existing brand in a design.

GetOnline 2009

Summer 2009 www.getonline-lan.net

Website for a local LAN-party event. I started this project with a brand new concept for the website: the old site required people to create an account before showing any info and this was just stupid, so we removed that. After that, it was just a matter of determining what information is most important to people. After that, I hopped into Photoshop to create a mockup and implemented it with PHP, HTML, CSS and JS.

Opiskelijan Tampere logo

Sometime in 2008

After researching for a bit, I chose the ABC-book as a metaphor for studying and the most famous attraction in Tampere “Näsinneula” -tower as the central point for presenting Tampere. I sketched a few ideas on paper, continued to refine them a bit and finally transferred the pencil sketches into digital vector illustrations.

Come back later... Maybe I'll have something for you by then :)
